Gym Buddy is not medical advice. The workouts, weights and answers produced by Rhino are generated by an AI language model. They are general fitness information for healthy adults, not a prescription, a diagnosis or a substitute for a qualified coach, physiotherapist or doctor. You train at your own risk.

Talk to a professional first

Before starting any exercise programme, especially if you are new to resistance training, are pregnant, are recovering from an injury or surgery, or have a heart, joint, blood-pressure or other medical condition, consult a doctor or other qualified health professional. Rhino does not know your medical history and cannot assess whether an exercise is safe for you.

Rhino is an AI, and AI makes mistakes

Rhino is powered by a large language model. It produces plausible, generally sensible plans, but it can and does get things wrong. In particular it may:

  • Suggest weights that are too heavy or too light for you. Starting weights are estimates from what you typed, not a measurement of your strength. Begin conservatively and increase gradually.
  • Prescribe unsuitable exercises for your equipment, mobility or injuries. Skip or swap anything that is not appropriate for you.
  • Describe technique imperfectly. A written description is no substitute for instruction from a qualified coach. Learn new movements with light loads and, where possible, in person.
  • State things confidently that are simply incorrect, including about nutrition, supplements, recovery and health. Verify anything important with a reliable source or a professional.

You are responsible for reviewing every plan before you follow it and for adjusting it to your own ability.

Stop if something is wrong

Stop exercising immediately and seek medical attention if you feel chest pain, dizziness, faintness, shortness of breath beyond what is normal for exertion, or sharp or unusual pain in a joint or muscle. Do not ask Rhino what to do in an emergency; contact emergency services.

Streaks and the pressure to train

Streaks and heatmaps are there to make consistency visible, not to pressure you into training when you should rest. Rest days, illness and injury recovery are part of a sensible programme. A broken streak costs you nothing; training through an injury can.

Tracking accuracy

The app records what you enter. If you tick a set you did not do, or leave a weight unchanged when you actually lifted less, the record and the plans Rhino builds from it will reflect that. The app does not measure your performance and cannot detect errors in what you log.

No professional relationship

Use of this application or this website does not create a practitioner-client, trainer-trainee or doctor-patient relationship between you and the developer. The developer is not a licensed medical practitioner, dietitian or accredited exercise professional.

Errors, omissions and liability

The application and this website are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer accepts no liability for any injury, loss or damage arising from the use of Gym Buddy, from following a workout or advice generated by Rhino, or from reliance on the content of this site.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable consumer protection legislation.

Service availability

Rhino depends on a server operated by the developer. It may be unavailable, slow or discontinued at any time without notice. Workouts you have already saved continue to work offline; the ability to create or revise them with Rhino does not.
